Meet Our Teachers
We are very fortunate to have a great group of dedicated, passionate instructors here at Bikram Yoga Darlinghurst.
Each of our instructors has completed the Bikram Yoga Teacher Training program and immersed themselves in an in-depth study of Bikram Yoga with Yoga Masters Bikram and Rajashree Choudhury and their staff of senior teachers.
I started doing Bikram yoga 18 years ago. At the time I was more interested in Dragon boating than anything else. I could see the practice would add to my training regime by giving me better flexibility, adding in stroke length. Avoiding injury. Strengthening my focus during the hard yards of racing.
Hello Yogis, My name is Felipe and I am originally from Brazil, but I have been living in Sydney for the last 6 years. My first Bikram class was on April 2010, I remember it like it was yesterday, I had no idea what to expect, but I was looking for a yoga class that would bring me some relaxation, peace of mind and release some unwanted emotions.
When I was younger I was a classically trained ballet dancer and then singer.
I’ve always enjoyed a creative medium. In 2003 I discovered and fell in love with Bikram Yoga.
My initial 10 day trial was the most challenging. However I was convinced I wanted to make this practice part of my “normal” life forever!
I started practicing Bikram yoga in August 2012 right here, at Bikram Yoga Darlinghurst. Before finding yoga, I suffered chronic lower back pain for approximately 1 year. After many visits to different doctors, X-rays, CT scans and MRI’s, the official diagnosis was: disc extrusion at the L5/S1 vertebrae and annular bulging at L3/L4 and L4/L5 discs.
There is a saying that people come into your life for a reason…. In 2006, a friend/work colleague and I where going through the tick list of fun experiences. We took it in turns to pick an activity of the month. One time it was Go-Go dancing, then hool-a-hoop classes, a crack at a Break-dance class and the list goes on.
I have been teaching Bikram Yoga for 5 years and Wow, the time has just flown! I did my first Bikram class at Old Street in London in 2004. I was on my way home to Australia after 10 years of working in the nightclubs of Edinburgh, Scotland. That first class had a huge impact on me. I realized how out of balance my body, emotions, health – my whole life – had become.
