What to Expect in Your First Class

We've got you covered. Here's everything you need to know before stepping into the hot room.

Before Class

  • Arrive 10-15 minutes early (late arrivals cannot be admitted)
  • Drink 500ml of water an hour before class
  • Avoid heavy meals 2 hours before class
  • Mention any injuries or medications to your teacher

During Class

  • The room is heated to 40°C with 40% humidity
  • Take breaks when needed - sit or lie down
  • Sip water slowly if required
  • Listen to your body - "trying is the posture"

After Class

  • Drink 1 litre of water over the next hour
  • You may feel tired - this is normal
  • Benefits improve with each class
  • Come back within 24-48 hours for best results

Questions Newcomers Ask

Everything you need to know before your first class

If you think you are not flexible or fit you are in the right place! Remember that everyone (even your teacher) has been a first-timer at some point. Our classes are for beginners and are suitable to all levels of fitness, so you'll be well looked after… Your teacher will take care of you and point you in the right direction throughout the class. There is a great saying, "the action of trying to do the posture, is the posture". As long as you try the right way you will still get the benefits and in no time at all you will be doing things you never thought possible. Please remember to mention any injuries or medications you may be on to your teacher before class.
You can book classes online via Our Mobile App or walk straight into the school and sign up at reception. Please arrive 10-15 minutes prior to your class as late arrivals will not be permitted to join class.
Hydration before class is very important. Try and drink around 500ml of water an hour before class then another litre over the next hour after class. Sip slowly on water during class if required. It is also recommended that you don't consume a heavy meal (2 hours prior to your class) as it may make you feel nauseous.
Absolutely! You can purchase one casual drop in class before you purchase the Newcomer Intro Pass. Keep in mind if you only do one class, trust us, you will not see or feel the full benefits of the series. This is why we offer an affordable month pass so you can make an informed decision if Bikram Yoga is for you.
Leave all your belongings (including mobile phones) in the change rooms. Studio doors are locked between classes, we recommend using a locker or keeping belongings tucked inside. Limited rental locks available on request.
Listen to your body. If you feel dizzy, nauseous, or need a break, simply sit or lie down on your mat. Stay in the room if possible—even resting in the heated room provides benefits. Your body is adjusting to the heat, and this is completely normal for first-timers. Take it at your own pace, and you'll build heat tolerance with each class.
